Bexhill, East Sussex, Hayley Okines is a teenage girl who was only 14 years old, but her physical appearance 7.5 times older than actual age which makes it look like an old woman 105 years old. Rare disease progeria made ??old before their time.
Hayley Okines doctors had predicted was not going to be phased live to the age of 13 years, but Hayley has just celebrated the anniversary-14 years.
Hayley Okines (14 years) suffering from a rare disease called progeria, the premature aging disease in children that made ??him look older than they are normally , now known as the most unique and bizarre disease has ever been found.
Outside the doctor’s prediction, Hayley was recently celebrated its birthday-14 years. Even with all its wonders, Hayley also published his autobiography.
In his book, Hayley told of how difficult life he had to face due to the rare disease progeria. He does not like school because of progeria has made his body like a 105-year-old grandmother.
Progeria makes hair fall out and not grow again, the blood vessels in the head was clear, mengeriputnya skin because there is no fat tissue. In addition, nails curved and brittle, hardened in the joints, which causes the bone easily cracked or broken bones and teeth grow too late.
Progeria takes its name from the Greek word ‘proeros’ meaningful prematurely old. This rare disease involves a mutant protein called progerin that accelerate physical aging.
Body of the sufferer will be 8 times older than normal, thus making the skin thinner and has a brittle bone. Progeria patients also usually will die from a heart attack or stroke at an average age of 13 years.
“My mother told me one of 8 million people, because my condition is very rare,” said Hayley Okines in his book, as reported by Dailymail.
Hayley’s parents originating from Bexhill, East Sussex, knew something was wrong when her baby is growing and his weight did not rise as fast as babies often.
And how careful the family is destroyed when he was diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS). Hayley story began to receive attention after starring in the documentary film ‘The Girl Who is Older than Her Mother and World’s Oldest Teenager: Extraordinary People’.
In April last year, Hayley was told by doctors that his hip dislocation in danger and he had to wear uncomfortable brace virtually 24 hours a day.
His family hopes a breakthrough in science may help him live longer and better than previous patients who had died of the disease.
“I feel like I have planned for the future. I think that maybe when I grow up, I’ll get married. Mother said there would be someone who must be very special for me to see beyond progeria,” she said.
