Several types of herbs are good for health and can be proven scientifically. But if there is claimed to cure diseases, especially lupus, do not immediately believe it.Prioritizing medical treatment, herbal alternative only if other efforts fail.

One of the herbs that are offered on People With Lupus (Odapus) is a red fruit (Pandanus conodius) from Papua. From generation to generation, this fruit has been consumed by the people of paradise on earth and proved capable of improving endurance.

Nutrient content in the red fruit is beneficial for the body because it is dominated by fatty acids and anti-oxidants which helps to protect cells from damage. Various types of antioxidants in red fruit such as beta carotene, vitamin C, E, and A.

The benefits of red fruit for the human body is also recognized by the medical specialist in internal medicine at the University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Djoerban Zubairi, SpPD-KHOM. He also does not prohibit if Odapus want to eat them as Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) or alternative medicine.

However, he asserted, the use of herbal medications such as red should not be stopped or replace medical treatment. Alternative medicine is used only as a complement, or it could be replaced if the disease is completely can not be solved medically.

Prof. Zubairi said that there can be no let alone herbal medicine that can cure various diseases as well. Moreover, Lupus is an autoimmune disorder that can affect any body part, so that there can be no single type of herb that can cure everything.

“In this world there can be no magic bullet (one cure for all diseases). Just need a combination of modern medicine, so it is not possible red fruit can handle everything alone,” added Prof. Zubairi.

The same opinion is also conveyed Chairman of Yayasan Lupus Indonesia (YLI), Tiara Savitri. Tiara which is the younger brother of veteran actor Donny Damara and also a Odapus even advise not to mix the modern medicine with alternative before any positive developments on the disease.
