Almost all scientists agree that human milk (breast milk) is the best food for babies, as well as scientists from the University of Georgia, USA. But recently one of the researchers of the university found a material that is claimed to be second best baby formula after breastfeeding is of hazelnut or walnut oil.

Is the Casimir Akoh, professor of food science and technology at the College ofAgricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of Georgia who developed a new nutrition for infants extracted from hazelnut oil. Akoh claim hazelnut oil structures as well as the structure of the milk making it suitable for use as a healthy infant milk formula.

Naturally, the mother’s body provides omega-3 fatty acids or DHA (docosahexaenoicacid) and omega-6 fatty acid, or ARA (arachidonic acid) for the baby during the last 3 months of pregnancy and while nursing. Both fatty acids are very important for infantbrain development and other organs.

In findings published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry is, Akohsuggests that the fat of hazelnut oil also contains DHA and ARA are the molecularposition similar to that found in breast milk.

“Profile of milk fatty acids is the gold standard if we want to design the composition offat for infant formulas,” he said as quoted by upi.com Akoh. “The structure of the unique milk fat also improves digestion and absorption of fatty acids andcalcium.”

In addition, Akoh design materials hazelnut oil-based formula milk is by putting all the components in a single molecule. This new molecule also includes acid palmitik in the middle, which is also found naturally in milk fat and oleic acid in hazelnut oil.
