Fatty Acids on Fat Women Dangerous Fetal Growth
Various studies have shown that in women, obesity can reduce the chances of pregnancy. If it can get pregnant, recent research shows that excess fatty acids in obese women may harm the growing fetus.
Researchers combined from Belgium, Britain and Spain have recently managed touncover that obesity in pregnant women could damage the health of the embryo andfetus. If you want a healthy baby at birth, before pregnant women should control their weight. According to the study, obesity and overweight are risk factors for type 2 diabetesand other metabolic disorders.
Metabolic disorder that causes the production of fattyacids in obese people especially women have increased. Increased levels of fatty acids known to affect fertility, so that pregnant women tend to be hard to have kids. But in this study revealed, fatty acids also affect the health of the embryo (fertilized egg cell) that had already formed.
When there is increased levels of fatty acids, the embryo will have a shortage of amino acids as well as some components are essential for growth such as oxygenand lactate. This condition is a risk factor for metabolic disorders and miscarriages in later life.
“We all know that high fatty acids can inhibit the formation of the egg. But only this time we can prove that fatty acids also affect the health of the embryo,” said one researcher, Jo Leroy from the University of Hull was quoted as saying by Reuters.
Leroy added, metabolic disorders caused embryos experiencing stress at the cellular level. The impact is the ability to survive is reduced, making it more vulnerable to the risk of miscarriage due to conditions unfavorable.
