Recent research shows not only diet and exercise affect weight. Because the chemicals used in most cosmetic products can contribute to weight gain.

Doctors from the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York said that the compound contained phthalates in nearly 70 percent of shampoo products, cosmetics and soaps can disrupt the endocrine and should be avoided whenever possible.

In previous studies researchers have shown that chemicals can cause damage in systems that naturally control the person’s weight. Researchers found the compounds are endocrine disruptors can mimic the effects of hormones that affect the glands in the body of work.

“Even if this substance plays a minor role in the process of obesity, then the exposure should be prevented,” said Dr. Maida Galvez, a pediatrician involved in the study, as quoted from Dailymail.

Researchers from Stirling University in Scotland called the compound Bisphenol A and phthalates as ‘chemical calories’ or chemicals that can contribute calories to the body.

Meanwhile Galvez advised to avoid exposure to phthalate, consumers should choose products shampoo, cosmetics or soaps that contain no fragrance (non-smell) as well as organic.

The study of chemicals that can contribute to weight gain is still too early. Therefore needs to be done further studies to find out how the mechanism so that it can find a more effective way of prevention.

The phenomenon of obesity today is the middle of a debate because the number of events has increased significantly, so that various methods are used to prevent obesity in order to avoid the various risk factors for disease.
