In 2006 Dr Robert T Sataloff, chairman of the ENT department of Drexel University College of Medicine conduct research involving 100 participants to find out whether the correct answer in a whisper that could damage the larynx.

In this study, researchers examined the vocal cords as well as fiber optics from the participants. To find participants were asked to say a number from 1 to 10, the first with a normal voice and whispered.

Based on the results of this research note are 69 participants experienced additional burden on his vocal cords when speaking in a way in a whisper. While 18 others showed no difference and 13 other people whisper it easier to talk than normal.

This will generate its own concerns about his voice and can cause damage to the vocal cords. Therefore, Dr. Sataloff advised people to avoid talking or whispering very softly, this is to avoid damage to the larynx due to excessive pressure on his vocal cords.
