Bad breath are not triggered by many things, among them a certain compound found in everyday foods. Types of foods that can trigger bad breath is very diverse, not just petai and jengkol.
Some foods can trigger bad breath because the content of certain compounds in it, such as acids and proteins. But there are also foods that trigger bad breath because of its physical properties, such cause dry mouth, triggering the growth of bacteria that cause bad breath.
Here are some foods and beverages that can trigger bad breath:
Garlic and onions contain sulfur and mercaptan compounds which have the odor. In the gastrointestinal tract, both compounds were absorbed and distributed by the blood throughout the body including the lungs. From the lungs, the steam come out with air breathing and trigger bad breath.
Spices used for cooking meat can lead to bad breath, while the fibers of meat tucked in between the teeth if not cleaned can also lead to rot and odor. To overcome the odor that is triggered by the spices, add the lemon juice in cooking and make it a habit to brush your teeth after eating meat.
In the mouth, milk and other dairy products including cheese and yogurt can form the amino compound. This compound is converted into sulfur compounds by microbes naturally found in the surface of the tongue so that the smell becomes unpleasant.
Sweets, sodas and cookies that contain sugar can become food for bacteria and microbes that exist naturally in the mouth. The results of the microbial metabolism was sulfur compounds that cause bad breath odors.
Like red meat and beans, eggs contain many proteins that can trigger bad breath.When the acid reacts with the fluid in the digestive tract, releasing protein odors which can be carried back into the oral cavity.
